Indian wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul recently talked about the famous ‘Koffee With Karan’ episode on the Nikhil Kamath podcast, ‘WTF Is’. He discussed how the controversy and backlash from that show deeply affected his life and changed his view on trolling. Rahul, who has been criticized for his performance and strike rate in recent years, said that the ‘Koffee With Karan’ episode marked the start of his experience with online trolling.

Looking back on the experience, Rahul said, “That interview was a whole new world for me. It changed me completely. I used to be a very shy and quiet person. But after playing for India, I gained confidence and became comfortable around large groups. People might remember me as someone who would talk to everyone in a room of 100 people.”

Rahul, who appeared on the show with Hardik Pandya, faced a lot of backlash for some sexist comments. Both players were suspended by the BCCI for missing a series against Australia and were fined INR 20 lakh before they could return to the team.

He admitted that being suspended was a big shock for him, as he had never faced such consequences before, even during school. “The suspension from the team was a major shock. I had never been suspended or punished in school. This was a completely new experience for me. I used to get into minor trouble in school, but nothing that led to serious consequences. This incident made me realize how tough and harsh things can be,” Rahul explained.

KL Rahul Breaks Silence After Retirement Rumors

Star Indian cricketer KL Rahul caused a stir on social media with his recent Instagram post, which hinted at an important announcement. His message, “I have an announcement to make, stay tuned…”, led some to speculate that he might retire from international cricket due to his recent exclusion from India’s T20 team. However, Rahul cleared up the rumors with his latest update.

In reality, Rahul and his wife, Athiya Shetty, organized an auction to support special children. They raised Rs 1.93 crores through the sale of various items, including jerseys and cricket bats from his current and former teammates.

Virat Kohli’s jersey was the top seller at Rs 40 lakh, while his gloves fetched Rs 28 lakh. Bats from current and former Indian captains—Rohit Sharma, MS Dhoni, and Rahul Dravid—raised Rs 24 lakh, Rs 13 lakh, and Rs 11 lakh, respectively.

KL Rahul Aims for Comeback in Duleep Trophy 2024

KL Rahul is set to play for Shubman Gill’s Team A in the first round of the prestigious Duleep Trophy 2024. His performance will be crucial for India, especially following his uneven showing in the recent ODI series against Sri Lanka, where he scored 31 runs in the first match, was dismissed for a duck on two balls in the second, and was left out of the third match.

Rahul is also aiming to secure a place back in the Indian squad for the Bangladesh series, after missing most of the home series against England earlier this year.
