In the lead-up to the IPL auction last year, Punjab Kings made headlines for mistakenly acquiring Shashank Singh’s services. The confusion arose when the franchise accidentally bid for him, mistaking him for another player, all for the base price of 20 lakhs.
Despite efforts to fix the error, the deal was finalized, and Shashank Singh became a part of the Punjab Kings squad.
During the auction process, there was a moment of confusion when the franchise owners expressed their desire to reverse the purchase.
However, due to procedural limitations, the purchase stood, and Shashank Singh officially became a Punjab Kings player. Later on, the franchise clarified that despite the mix-up, Shashank Singh was indeed a player they had targeted and were pleased to have him on board.

Besides Shashank Singh, Prabhsimran Singh, Jitesh Sharma, and Ashutosh Sharma also exhibited their batting skills during the match against Gujarat Titans.
Prabhsimran made 35 runs off 24 balls, while Jitesh and Ashutosh displayed their ability to hit big shots, scoring 16 and 31 runs respectively, by the end of the IPL game.
