Suryakumar Yadav’s to KKR has become a hot topic on social media, with claims suggesting that KKR has offered him the captaincy ahead of IPL 2025. Mr.360 has been a key player for Mumbai Indians (MI) since 2018, and KKR is reportedly interested in bringing him in through a trade.
Social media is buzzing with posts about this claim, but the big question is: Can Suryakumar really leave MI and join KKR through a trade? And would KKR actually replace their IPL-winning captain before the 2025 season?
Even if KKR decides to remove Shreyas Iyer from the captaincy and give the role to Suryakumar, they can’t acquire him before the IPL 2025 mega-auction. The reason is that there’s no trading window available before a mega-auction.
For Suryakumar to join KKR, he would have to leave MI and enter the mega-auction, even if KKR has made an offer. Auctions are unpredictable, and given Suryakumar’s skills, nearly every team would want to sign him if he’s available.
KKR, with 17 years in the IPL understands the risks. Letting go of their IPL-winning captain in hopes of getting a new one at the auction is a gamble they are unlikely to take.
However, this doesn’t mean that Suryakumar can’t rejoin KKR. If KKR places the highest bid during the auction, he could return to the team after 8 years. But as with any auction, nothing is guaranteed. There will be a trading window before IPL 2026, during which KKR could trade for Suryakumar, whether he is still with MI or another team after the 2025 season
Suryakumar Yadav Named New T20I Captain Replacing Rohit Sharma
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially announced a leadership change in the Indian cricket team, with Suryakumar Yadav taking over as the new T20I captain from Rohit Sharma.
Rohit, who recently led India to victory in the T20 World Cup, will return to the ODI format for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka. Virat Kohli will also rejoin the ODI squad.
Suryakumar previously led the T20I team during an away series against South Africa when Rohit was unavailable after a demanding ODI World Cup.
Hardik Pandya, India’s vice-captain during the T20 World Cup, is included in the T20I squad despite previous reports suggesting that fitness issues might affect his captaincy prospects.
The leading fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, has been rested for the Sri Lanka tour. Shubman Gill has been appointed vice-captain for both T20Is and ODIs in the series against Sri Lanka.
Under Gill’s leadership, the Indian team secured a 4-1 victory over Zimbabwe in a recent five-match series. Sanju Samson, who was Gill’s deputy in the Zimbabwe series, has also been included in the squad for the Sri Lanka tour.
